Wait A Minute!!!

Have you ever told someone wait a second? How about wait a minute? Knowing your second and minute would be a little longer. Someone might say its just a figure of speech, but it is a way to record and estimate time. Imagine going to the doctor's office or just a place of business. The receptionist directs you to the waiting room after you check in. There are magazines to read, possibly soft music or a television playing. You are made to feel comfortable as you wait. Your comfortability ends when the time you expect and desire to wait is exceeded.

We all have a tolerable level of waiting. Then here comes the twisting and turning. The thoughts of everything you could and should be doing. Its possible you may start talking to yourself about this length of waiting just doesn't make sense. It really intensifies if someone else in the waiting room feels the same way. Tension and agitation fills the air. A conversation about the wait may even spark. The receptionist may begin to receive complaints about the wait period.  Depending on a person's tolerability wait level, it is possible they will cancel, reschedule or just walk out. And someone said patience is a virtue. It is a virtue indeed to those that wait and learn to wait.

The disciples were told to wait for the promise of the Father (Holy Spirit) in Acts 1:4. Are you anxious about ministry? Romans 12:7 tells us to wait on our ministry. Have you ever wondered what you're waiting for? For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. (Galatians 5:5) Imagine waiting all day, 24 hours. The psalmist petitions the Lord, Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.(Psalm 25:5) Discouragement hits us all, but if you wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14) It is good to know when impatience tries to overtake our being we can rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. (Psalm 37:7)

There are some benefits of waiting:
  • We inherit the earth. (Psalm 37:9)
  • We are exalted. (Psalm 37:34)
  • We are saved. (Proverbs 20:22)
Don't stop waiting! But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk , and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Wait A Minute!!!

The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:25-26

  1. I must admit I am an impatient individual. I struggle in the area of waiting, but I'm realizing that there are benefits to waiting. Waiting and Waiting patiently make the result all more the better. :))
